William F. Buckley, R.I.P.

John Cole attributes to the NYT the sad news that William F. Buckley has died.

There will be other times to revisit his old editorials that have not held up very well, but lately, he had been a voice of reason among today’s movement conservatives.  He was an influential figure.

Here’s a clip of a Buckley discussion with Noam Chomsky.  Our political culture has gotten stupider since Buckley withdrew from the national scene.

One Response to “William F. Buckley, R.I.P.”

  1. Jesse Says:

Ah, a maverick for the ‘new right’.
A member of the intelligentsia for the America First generation and the CIA
Not to be confused with the America First Committee

-Too bad Noam hasn’t debated a man of the ‘old right’, (Rothbard would have been a good contender)

Buckley on the other hand… has debated men of the ‘old right’.
